Red Bird MCX
Full Motion Simulator
Great Planes Aviation uses the Redbird MCX flight simulator to provide our students with enhanced training from student pilot to professional crew. The MCX features dual controls, just like a real airplane which allows an instructor, instructor-in-training, or co-pilot to perform maneuvers from the right seat. During initial pilot training, our instructors can demonstrate maneuvers from the right seat before the student tries their hand, just like you would do in the real airplane.
The MCX becomes a truly powerful training tool which allows the student to be immersed in 200° visuals, while being able to log valuable instruction time with this simulator being an FAA approved Advanced Aviation Training Device.
The Redbird MCX comes equipped with a 3-axis, electric motion platform. This one-of-a-kind system provides effective motion feedback for yaw, pitch, and roll which gives our students a realistic feeling of flight while on the ground.
In the past, simulators have been used almost exclusively for instrument instruction and a single screen was all you needed to show the runway when the student broke out at minimums. The Redbird MCX is a great primary training platform, thanks in large part to its expansive visual displays. The MCX opens up a wide range of experiences for our students. You can practice flight maneuvers, landings, cross country flights and even instrument approaches. With a world-wide terrain database to support the 200° visuals, the MCX lets our students experience the view from the cockpit before they ever leave the ground.
